New worksheet previewed and printed without gridlines due to design.
Cause:
This behavior is by design of Excel 7.0. The behavior is different from the default behavior of the previous versions, where new worksheets were designed to be previewed and printed WITH gridlines. However, when workbooks or worksheets created in a previous version are opened in Excel 7.0, the files behave as they did in the previous version -- they are previewed and printed with gridlines.
Solution:
To print only one worksheet with gridlines, select the worksheet and select the 'Gridlines' check box in the 'Page Setup' dialog box before printing. To set up all worksheets in new workbooks to print with gridlines BY DEFAULT, create a workbook autotemplate with the 'Gridlines' option selected.
1) To print one worksheet with gridlines:
a) Click the tab for the worksheet to be printed. (The worksheet is selected.)
b) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Page Setup...'. (The Page Setup dialog box appears.)
c) Click the 'Sheet' tab.
d) Select the 'Gridlines' check box in the 'Print' group.
